The 2012 Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT brings three days of 180 mph excitement to the heart of Baltimore on Labor Day weekend. The stars and cars of the IZOD IndyCar Series and the American Le Mans Series are expected to fight for the ultimate win on the 12-turn course that snakes through the heart of downtown Baltimore and along the Inner Harbor. More than 100,000 spectators are expected to attend the race weekend.

Delaware resident, Al Carter, will be one of the local racers this weekend since the Baltimore track is located only 70 miles from his hometown of Greenville. Carter made his American Le Mans Series debut at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge Car Course earlier this month co-driving the #66 TRG B+ Foundation / Adobe Road Winery Porsche GT3 Cup GTC with Spencer Pumpelly. Carter and Pumpelly finished second in the GTC class at Mid-Ohio which was a remarkable performance for Al who registered one of the greatest racing results of his young racing career.

Following that great performance, Al Carter was invited by Kevin Buckler, team owner of TRG, to drive one of the two TRG Porsche GT3 Cup GTC entries in the streets of Baltimore this Labor Day weekend for the 2nd annual ALMS Baltimore Sports Car Challenge presented by SRT.

This time Al Carter will co-drive the #68 TRG B+ Foundation - SceneTap - Adobe Road Winery Porsche GT3 Cup GTC with Frenchman Patrick Pilet who is one of the most recognized and ambitious Porsche drivers of his generation. This will be Al Carter's first ever street race experience and he is very excited about it.

"I watched the inaugural Baltimore Sports Car Challenge from the stands last year, and was incredibly impressed with the venue, the fans, and the Baltimore atmosphere," announced Al Carter.* "To find myself racing through the streets of the Inner Harbor in a TRG seat alongside factory Porsche driver Patrick Pilet this year has me more than pumped. My first ALMS start with TRG almost yielded my first professional class win. Intending to make all my Delaware people proud and get our #68 TRG B+ Foundation - SceneTap - Adobe Road Winery Porsche GT3 on the GTC podium again, and bring some hardware back to Dewey Beach.* A special thanks to TRG team owner Kevin Buckler and their entire TRG crew efforts in providing me this awesome race opportunity" added Carter.

Since 2010, Al Carter is competing in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge with co-driver Hugh Plumb. After 8 of 10 2012 races, Carter is ranked 4th in the point standings and is looking to finish on the podium of the 2012 championship.

Since last year, Carter is accumulating racing experiences and after racing in the 50th running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona this year as well as in the Six Hours of The Glen, Carter also raced and finished second competing in the Pirelli World Challenge earlier this month at Mid-Ohio. Carter's goal this weekend is to finish on the GTC podium of the Baltimore Sports Car Challenge presented by SRT and also to promote his sponsors The B+ Foundation and SceneTap.
