The mid-1970s, Dick Berggren terrorized the sprint car division at Beech Ridge, setting the track speed record for dirt at 16 seconds flat. The executive editor and publisher of three national magazines and national television broadcaster, Berggren brought technology and notoriety to Beech Ridge and Maine motorsports. He was inducted into the Beech Ridge Hall of Fame in 2010.

Mike Johnson is the fourth-highest-ranked Beech Ridge champion in history, totaling eight titles in just fifteen years of driving. The 1992 Driver of the Year, Johnson was inducted into the track's Hall of Fame in 1994. His final championship came in 1995 -- making him NASCAR's first Beech Ridge champion.

As a car owner, Sandy MacKinnon put his drivers into championships. Jim McClure, a 2011 Maine HOF inductee) won titles for MacKinnon in 1979 and 1981, while MacKinnon fielded Joey Kourafas' 1987 NASCAR Busch North Series championship-winning ride. Other drivers who competed for MacKinnon include Dick McCabe (HOF Class of 2009) and Ray Leach (HOF Class of 2012).
