It was a beautiful evening at the Miller Central Speedway. It was the Second Annual Dog Days of Summer Big Dog race, sponsored again by Turtle Creek Construction. An excellent crowd was on hand and Johnson Towing sponsored the candy scramble. There were 61 cars in the pits.

The Pure Stock feature started off with Tyler Kolda grabbing the lead, but he spun in turns 3-4 on the first lap and got hammered by Drew Prentice. Kolda restarted but Prentice went off on the hook.

Brandon Hammill grabbed the lead on the restart and lead all the way over Jordan Rawstern, Mike Hammill, Jackie Hofteizer and Kolda. It was Brandon's 9th feature win at the speedway, tying him for third with Tre Blasdell on the win list. Going into Sunday night's Season Championship races, Rawstern has a 17 point lead on Brandon and 23 on Kolda as Rawstern is going for his first Point Championship.

With the extra money on the line the WISSOTA features were lined up draw/redraw with the top 4 finishers in the heats drawing for the front 4 rows and everybody else drawing for row 5 on back. If you had bad luck in your heat you were in for a long night.

Andy Johnson lead the first four laps of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified main, then Caleb Yost spun in turn two. On the restart Lorin Johnson came from the second row to take over the lead. With two laps to go Cole DeJong spun in turn four, setting up a green, white, checker finish. At this point Yost had passed seven cars in nine laps and was seventh. Lorin took off on the restart and won his 61st Mid Mod feature at the track, followed by Andy Johnson, Camden Myers, Brad Kopecky and Lane Johnson. There was a wreck in turn four as the checker waved, but the race was called complete. Jeff Rawstern drove to the pits, Colby Jensen limped back and Dylan Zabel went back on the hook.

Camden Myers had broken down in his heat and started 13th to finish 3rd, while Yost hung on to his 7th place finish. The points race has been decided in this class with Lorin Johnson having a 63 point lead over his son Lane. It will be Lorin's ninth Point Title in the class and sixth straight. Hopefully Lane and some of the other Young Guns can do something about it next year.

After a few restarts the WISSOTA Modified feature went green all the way once a lap was completed with Kent Arment being hounded by Tyler McDonald all the way to the end. Mike Stearns, Alex Guthmiller and Morgan Ward rounded out the top five. It was Arment's eighth Mod win at the track and going into next week Arment has a 20 point lead on Nick Grehl and 52 on Justin Boomsma.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks nearly went green all the way with Cole Searing getting his first step on starting a new winning streak, with Trevor Nelson, Casey Hanson, Brandon Tingle and Kipp DeGroot rounding out the top five. It was Searing's 24th feature win in the Supers. Searing has clinched his second straight title going into next week.

The WISSOTA Late Models rounded out the night, with outside pole sitter Brian Diede getting the jump on point lead Josh Skorczewski on the started and leading all the way. Several times Curt Gelling would nose ahead on the inside of turn four and almost lead a lap, but Diede's car was hooked up on the outside and he would retake the lead. Brian finally shook off Gelling late in the going to win his third feature at the Miller Central Speedway. He was followed by Gelling, Kent Arment, Scott Ward and David McDonald. Going into the Season Championship Skorczewski has a 34 point lead on Arment as he goes for his first career track title.

Next week's races will be sponsored by the Miller Central Speedway. In case of rain, the Championship race will be August 28. Either way, there will still be races on the 28th.
