WEST SALEM, WI (Tuesday, October 2, 2012) ”“ The Camper Village is now officially open for the 43[SUP]rd[/SUP] Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. This event has become an annual tradition for competitors, fans, media, officials and others to come together for four days and celebrate another season of short track racing.

“This whole weekend is about having fun,”￾ Chuck Deery, Oktoberfest Race Weekend Promoter said. “While we do have some divisions and series settling their 2012 championships at this event, many competitors are coming here to have fun. For many, it is an opportunity to race against drivers from other tracks in the Midwest and be in a field of what could be considered as All-Star drivers in their division. For them, a win at Oktoberfest is a win against the best of the best.”￾

For the fans, this is their best opportunity to see many of their favorite drivers race over the four days at one event. Many will have the opportunity to see drivers who have been following all year but haven’t seen in person, race right in front of them with their other favorites.

It is also an opportunity to see events that are unique to Oktoberfest, for example events they won’t see as part of a weekly short track program. Events like The Futures, Dick Trickle 99, JMcK 63, Late Model Challenge, Double-O and others.

While there will be fun events, there will also be intense drama with the championships to be decided in the ASA Midwest Tour, ASA Midwest Truck Tour, Big 8 Series, Mid-American Series, La Crosse NASCAR Late Models, La Crosse North Country Contractors Grand National Sportsmen, La Crosse United Auto Supply Thunderstox and the LaCrosse Volden Construction Outlawz.

The four days will be like an action movie with fans sitting on the edge of their seats witnessing something special. First time visitors will realize why fans, competitors and others come back year after year. For the returning visitors, it will be a chance to catch up with old friends, share great racing stories, and watch history being made on the track.

Along with the great racing action, there will also be traditional events for fans including Friday's Pet Costume Parade, a Cornhole / Beanbag Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Saturday's Memorabilia Show, Sunday's Charity Pancake Breakfast, Champions' Re-Union and Pumpkin Coloring Contest, and of course, the famous after-race parties with live music from The Freezers and Mitch and the Magictones.

It all starts on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Have your blanket ready in the mornings to get your best seat for the 43[SUP]rd[/SUP] Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI.

The Oktoberfest Race Weekend Fan Guide, detailing just about everything "Fest," is now available to download at or available by mail by calling the Speedway office at 608-786-1525. The website also features information about camping, hotels, rules & entry and more.

Make your plans now to be a part of the 43rd Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. It is a tradition like no other in short track racing.
