Richmond, KY- December 9, 2015- Richmond Raceway track promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are excited to announce some dates for various race events that will take place during the 2016 racing season at the 3/10 mile semi-banked red clay oval better known as “The Beast of the East”. The complete 2016 racing season schedule of events will be released just prior to the Christmas holiday.

Richmond Raceway will have an open practice for all divisions that will compete at the track during the 2016 season on Saturday March 26. The 50th season of dirt track racing at Richmond Raceway will officially take the green flag on Saturday April 2, with a full racing program for Late Models, Modifieds, KDRA Super Stocks, Stock Four Cylinders, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

The first big money Super Late Model event will take place on Saturday April 16 and will be the 2nd Annual Spring Shootout, paying $4,000 to win for the ULTIMATE Regional Late Model tour. The Ray Cook promoted Southern Nationals Bonus Series will make its first of two visits to the track on Saturday June 25 as the 12th Annual Iron-Man Classic will take place, paying an event record $10,000 to win the 50 lap main event (the race will be 50 laps in honor of the 50th season of racing at the track). The track’s marquee event will move to August for 2016 as the 29th Annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial will again pay $10,000 to win and will once again be sanctioned by the Southern National Bonus Series on Saturday August 20, with the race again being 59 laps in distance in honor of the Duncan’s Delight #59 that Wooldridge drove to many victories in his Hall of Fame career.

Other events that will grace the 2016 racing schedule during the 2016 race season for Late Models will include the Finn Watson Memorial, Butch Shay Memorial, “Butterball” Tune-Up, and the Beast of the East Clash, with dates for those events to be announced once the final schedule is released.

The Modified Mayhem event will return to the second for the Modified division, along with a couple of more extra money paying events as well. There will be at least a pair of American Dirt Allstar sanctioned KDRA Super Stock events, with one of those being the KDRA Super Stock Nationals. The Four Cylinder Fury will once again be on the schedule for the Stock Four Cylinder division and will pay $1,000 to win, along with an additional $1,000 to win event during the season for the division.
