Riverside Speedway, Antigonish, NS Russell Smith Jr. Wins Napa Sportsman Highland Home Building Centres 50

    JAMES RIVER, NS (August 18, 2012) ”“ The Napa Sportsman Series ran round three fo four en route to the 2012 championship, the Highland Home Building Centres 50, at Riverside International Speedway and it was Russell Smith Jr coming out on top at the checkers. Smith beat Dave Timmons to the finish line, followed by Jerry Hayes in third, Brad DeCoste in fourth, and Kevin MacGrath in fifth.
    The race saw two different leaders, Ross Lewis led the first 28 circuits before being overtaken by Smith. There were 24 cars and it took just a little more than 36 minutes to run the 50-lap feature, which saw four caution periods.

    Qualifying heat races were won by DeCoste, Lewis, and Smith.
    Riverside International Speedway finishes its 2012 season September 15 with the Wilson Equipment 300 for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series; the Napa Sportsman Series championship race will open the weekend on September 14. Advance tickets for the Wilson 300 weekend will be available August 22.
