Senoia Raceway "Up on the Wheel" Issue No. #6-2016 QUALITY FAMILY VALUES Our pledge to you is that we put forth our best effort to create a family atmosphere at all of the Senoia Raceway events. We want everyone, all ages, to feel comfortable attending Senoia Raceway. We will continue to offer quality racing programs that bring in great drivers and respected tours (series). We will offer programs for the kids to enjoy and keep them engaged with the program from week to week. All of this will be inspired by our own family values. See you at the 'Bull Ring'! Bill Massey, Mayes Massey & Doug Stevens Senoia Raceway management team 770.599.6161. WATERLESS BOAT RACE TOTAL BOAT DESTRUCTION Saturday, June 18th The fans asked for the wildest and craziest event to ever take place at Senoia Raceway to return. Promoters Bill Massey, Mayes Massey and Doug Stevens heard the cries for the return of the 'Waterless Boat Race' and thanks to Caswell Towing of Newnan, it is set for Saturday, June 18th. Drivers will chain, tie or strap old boats to the rear of their vehicles and then drag them around the 'Bull Ring'. It is not a race to see who is the fastest with their boats attached, but a battle to see who can keep from having the others dislodge their boat while making laps. The last person with their boat (or part of their boat) still being dragged will be declared the winner. "It is total boat destruction," said Mayes Massey. "Everyone loves the chaos, crashing and unknown of what is going to happen in the boat race." Senoia Raceway and Caswell Towing have obtained quite a few boats that are available for those wishing to participate, but do not have access to an old boat. Participants are encouraged to be creative with their boat entries. Events at other tracks around the nation have seen entries with mannequins as 'Boat Captains' and themed boats like the 'SS Minnow'. Speed boats, Fishing boats, Canoes, Jon Boats, Jet Skis are all considered eligible boats for competition. If you are interested in participating in the 'Waterless Boat Race' or have questions, contact Bill Massey at 770.599.6161. ROSCOE SMITH TOPLESS SHOOT-OUT SET FOR JULY The inaugural Roscoe Smith Topless Shoot-Out featuring the Southern All-Stars Dirt Late Model Series is set for July 1 and 2. The special holiday weekend event will honor another of the Senoia Raceway legends with a 44-lap race paying $4,444 to the winner. Roscoe Smith won many races at his home track of Senoia Raceway in his his #44 racer with the checkered flag roof panel. Not wanting any driver to duplicate the famous checkered flag roof panel, race officials have opted to have the event be a topless race. All competitors will be allowed to remove their roof panels giving the race fans a look out of the history books when some raced in convertibles. "It is a unique opportunity for the fans to see the drivers working the wheel and racing," explained Mayes Massey. "The driver is not hidden in the car. They will be in plain sight of the fans cheering them on. It's really cool." Friday, July 1st will feature an open practice round for the Super Late Models and qualifying rounds for the Limited Late Models, Crate Late Models, B Cadets, Hobby Stock, Mini Stock and Bomber. A full night of qualifying, heats and last chances is slated for Saturday, July 2nd for the Supers while the features will be run in all the other classes.
