$15,000 Up For Grabs This Saturday, August 5
Thanks to Randy Shapiro at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet in Ft. Worth, TX, Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association racers will have a shot at more than $15,000 in purse money during the August 5 event at Texas Motorplex. The expanded payout comes in the fourth event of the 2017 O’Reilly Auto Parts Outlaw Pro Mod Series at the Ennis, TX drag racing facility. In addition, Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet becomes a presenting sponsor of the series for the final two races of the year.
Andy Carter, Texas Motorplex General Manager said, “Having die-hard race fans like Randy working to help promote and grow this series at our track means that drag racing is alive and well in the entertainment marketplace. Being able to offer an increased payout to the stars of this show with the help of Randy and Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet can only add to the excitement on the track and in the pits.” Carter added, “We couldn’t be happier with how this new series has performed for the fans that have come out this year and additional support from people like Randy Shapiro means it can only get better!”
Racers in the Outlaw Pro Mod category will be aiming for a dramatically increased payout during their four rounds of eliminations. As a special incentive to the 6.00 Index sportsman category, Shapiro has pledged $2500 on top of the purse in this class as well. What has already proven to be a tough class will be a hard-fought battle for the win.
Historically an 8-car show, the Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association series saw an immediate jump in their competitor base in 2017 with the addition of Texas Motorplex to the schedule. Showcasing more than 20 Outlaw Pro Mod teams vying for a now 16-car field was also made possible by Shapiro and Leon Dudley at Charlie’s Plumbing pledging their support to the series.
Gates open at 2:00 on Saturday, August 5, sportsman time trials begin at 4:00, and Outlaw Pro Mod qualifying will take place at 5:00 and 6:00 with eliminations beginning at 7:15. Tickets are $20 at the gate or $15 when purchased at any Dallas-Fort Worth area O’Reilly Auto Parts store.
