One of the most highly-anticipated seasons of all returns to the track this Friday night as Car Wars is back for another August filled with crashes, carnage and general motorsports mahem.

Car Wars begins this Friday night, August 1, at 7 p.m. and continues through every Friday night in August.

It's a night of full contact fun that both kids and families will love, where the rules of the road are left at home. Car Wars brings your favorite characters to life and puts them on wheels! Kids love and laugh at the character cars. Parents rock 'n roll during the Rocker Derby events. And everyone marvels at the 2-Wheel Wonders driving contest. Plus a smash-up Demolition Derby to wrap up the show!

And of course, Firefly -- your kids' newest high-flying superhero!

Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is Maine's only NASCAR-sanctioned short track. In addition to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, which competes from May through September each season, the track hosts the 10-week Thursday Thunder series from June through August, and Car Wars on Friday nights in August.

    Summerfest '14 Returns This Sunday

The Maine Vintage Race Car Association returns with its annual Summerfest on Sunday, August 3, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. It's a trip back in time and an up-close-and-personal look at the history of stock car racing in Maine.

Highlighted by a cookout, Vintage ride-alongs and a couple of Vintage races, it's a day at the speedway you won't want to miss.

Suggested donations are $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 7-12. For more information, visit the Maine Vintage Race Car Association at www.mainevintageracecars.com.
